Celebrating Student Birthdays...

Students like their special day to be memorable...when students arrive they will see a birthday cake sign hanging in the doorway with their name on it, a mylar balloon in the the room and find their desk covered with birthday confetti, a happy birthday temporary tattoo, sticker and a happy birthday bracelet!! Students will bring home the birthday bag to write and draw in the birthday journal how they celebrated their special day.  If you have time, enjoy reading the birthday books in the bag and return for the next birthday student to enjoy reading as well.

We will create a student written birthday book during Writer's Workshop too.  The birthday student gets to select three friends from our classroom to join them for lunch with me in the classroom.  We will enjoy their birthday treats after singing a special birthday song.  At the end of each month we'll play Birthday Bingo to celebrate that month's birthday students too!

What fun to celebrate birthdays in 2nd grade!  (If your child's birthday lands in the summer, we will celebrate it on their half birthday.  In addition, if your child's birthday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, we'll ask you to choose Monday or Friday to celebrate it as long as there isn't another birthday on that given day.)  Stay tuned for many more birthday celebrations this year!
