Welcome to Second Grade!

I am very excited to begin the new school year! This year you will learn new skills in these subject areas:  Writer’s Workshop, Reading, Physical Education (PE), Technology, Guidance, Math, Science, Library, Social Studies, Health and Wellness, Music, Spanish, Chinese and Art.

Mid-Prairie East Elementary will be hosting a Back-to-School Open House on Monday, August 21st from 4:00-7:00p.m. for you to bring all your supplies, meet myself and see your new classroom!  Please remember to bring ALL school supplies listed on the school supply list so that we can begin the school year on a positive and prepared note.

Brain based learning studies have found that kids that eat regularly including snacking throughout the day, perform better in the classroom.  While you are shopping for school supplies, please consider snacks for your child daily in our classroom.  Each child will take time to munch on their own healthy snacks daily if they have brought their own daily healthy snack.  I have chosen to change our snack donations from whole class to individual students as we do not have space to store snacks and this allows each child to bring their own snack they like to eat while learning and working together. Thank you for your healthy donations!

We would like to create a class bulletin board with our immediate family pictures so that we can become more familiar with our classmates and their families. Therefore, we need you to send the most up-to-date picture of your immediate family that can be displayed in our classroom all year long, please keep in mind that it will not be returned as you make your selection to send to school. Please return a family picture of your child and all of their immediate family by Monday, August 28.

I've been very busy getting our new classroom ready, and the real fun will start when you and your classmates arrive on Wednesday, August 23! We will meet in our room between 8:05-8:25am which is the the last room in the 2nd Grade hallway on the right (the former Music Room) on the North side of the building.
