Welcome to 2nd
Grade! I am delighted to inform you that we are beginning to work with our math
program called Everyday Mathematics.
Everyday Mathematics
is a comprehensive curriculum that follows the National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics NCTM standards. See the
attached Introduction to Everyday Mathematics Family Letter for additional
details of the program.
The students have their own Math Tool Bags to use on a
daily basis. Counting money is a skill that develops with
practice. Therefore, we need your child to bring 30 pennies, 6 to 10 nickels, 6
to 10 dimes and 6 to 10 quarters for them to use as we work with money
all year long in a
labeled, quart sized sealed baggie.
They will bring their money home at the end of the school year.
